Welcome to the Wesley Center Preschool.

Wesley Center Preschool operates under the auspices of the United Methodist Church, 17 Kent Place Boulevard, Summit, NJ.  All classes have teachers who are certified by the state in early childhood education.

Purpose of the School

The purpose of Wesley enter Preschool is to provide a stimulating environment for young children where they can develop spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. The school strives to build a foundation of experiences from which the children will be able to draw meaningful information as they make sense out of the world around them.  The school provides a safe and loving atmosphere in which the children feel free to make choices and take risks in their process of learning.  Through a varied and flexible program each child will build a positive concept of self and others while nurturing a joy in the wonders of the world in which he/she lives.

Wesley Center Preschool admits students of any race, religion or national origin.

Philosophy of Our School

Wesley Center recognizes that each child has unique talents and interests.  A wide variety of activities are made available so that children may explore and learn about themselves and the world around them.  Encouraging children to make choices for themselves develops self-motivation.  Developing social skills is a very important part of the curriculum.  Qualities such as kindness, fairness, cooperation and honesty are modeled and encouraged.  Communication skills are also practiced so that children become articulate and confident speakers and attentive listeners.

Multi-culturalism is incorporated so that differences become exciting and interesting in the hopes that children will learn to appreciate and respect all fellow human beings.

Wesley Center is non-denominational.  We say a “grace” before snacks, with reference to “God”.  We celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Valentine’s Day, Passover, Chinese New Year and any other holiday that parents are willing to share with us.
